Artist Spotlight: Beth Winterburn

I’m not sure I’ve ever found art I appreciated so wholly as Beth’s paintings.

As listed on her website, her work is “characterized by bold, gestural brush strokes and minimalist detail.” Although she’s very methodical in how she prepares her paintings, something about them feels very organic to me. Looking at her paintings, I feel the serenity of nature, seeing oceanic properties in some pieces, trees and birds in others.

My favorite piece is #1 from her Migration series.

I haven’t pulled the trigger on a piece yet. I’m planning to buy one or two originals for my office at home, but since that room is still full of boxes from our move to this house (a year ago this week, eek) I’m holding off. My favorite piece is sold out but I’m confident that with each new series Beth releases, I’ll find something I love just as much.
