Thursday Things Vol. 1
I’m testing out an idea for Thursdays going forward. Think of it as a heavily curated link, idea and “thing” round-up. When I say heavily curated, I mean it. I’m talking just a handful of things that I found interesting, funny or mind-opening.
Read of the Week
Kelly Marie Tran’s op-ed in The New York Times
If you haven’t read this by now, I strongly suggest taking 5 minutes to do so. The notion that we live in a world where people still think it’s ok to harass another person (online or off) for simply existing is sad. The knowledge that these trolls harassed Kelly Marie to the point that she thought they might be right is sickening.
Song of the Week
“Superstition” by Stevie Wonder
Quote of the Week
“Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” – T.S. Eliot
Tip of the Week
Remember that while the days may be long, the years are short. This is taken straight from Gretchen Rubin, but I love the perspective it affords. I’ve been reminding myself of this regularly this week. It was just one of those weeks. Work wasn’t the best, the kids seemed kind of crabby and I’ve been slacking on the workouts that normally keep me energetic and motivated. Try to focus on the long game in those moments.
Instagram of the Week
I’m biased sharing this, but if you’re near Cincinnati, give @girlbossevents a follow. Ashley is doing great things to build a community of local women who are charting their own courses, building their own businesses and supporting one another through it all. I’ll be at the Kendra Scott Mixer in October and covering the Holiday Pop-Up in November as well. I’d love to see you there!
