Thursday Things Vol. 8

It’s been awhile since I published a Thursday Things. Work this week has been a little bonkers and although I always have the best of intentions when it comes to pre-planning content, even the best laid plans oft times go astray. That’s when it’s nice to throw a few favorites together in a TT post!

Read of the Week

I’m late to this party, but Becoming by Michelle Obama is my current read. Not surprising, but the book is warm, inspiring and brilliant—just like I expected it would be. I’m just about halfway through and look forward to sneaking in a chapter or two each night before bed.

Blogger Millennial Pink Pennies shares her Thursday Things, including Read of the Week: Becoming by Michelle Obama.

Snack of the Week

Have you tried dessert hummus yet? I picked up a few containers of Boar’s Head Dark Chocolate Dessert Hummus this week and have been enjoying it with cinnamon and sugar pita chips at night. I’m 100% hooked. Even though I think I’m eating about five times the serving size, it’s still better than a huge bowl of ice cream.

Product of the Week

Last year I received a sample of Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium perfume and fell deeply in love with it. I want everything to smell like it. To me, it is the perfect winter fragrance. I considered spending out on some around Christmas, but I have a few other scents sitting in my dresser that I feel like I should use up before dropping more dollars. Lo and behold, YSL also makes a hair mist! It’s not a typical hair spray that holds your hair in place; it’s literally just a scented spray specifically for your hair. At $39/bottle, it was a much more economical option. I spritz the ends of my hair in the morning before work and catch whiffs of the scent all day long.

Side note: I do have a perfume fixation and get so much joy out of switching my scent for the season. Other winter favorites have been Vera Wang Princess and Dolce & Gabbana Dolce.

App of the Week

I learned of Cronometer from the Fitnessista blog. I was skeptical at first because I’ve tried other food-tracking apps with limited success. Something about Cronometer is working for me though! It tracks your macros which is obviously helpful, but beyond that, it gives you really clear pictures of how you’re doing on vitamins, minerals and more. You can look at data trends within the app to determine where you’re consistently hitting your targets or falling short. So far, I’ve learned that I really love carbs (not a surprise) and I’m often deficient in vitamin K (kind of a surprise because I do eat a fair amount of salad… or so I thought). It’s really helping me make better food choices though. I’ve consumed considerably less ice cream and more veggies since I downloaded Cronometer!
