Fashion Favorites from the 2019 SAG Awards

You know I love an awards show and last night I was able to catch the 2019 SAG Awards. We haven’t had cable in years and since it doesn’t air on NBC, ABC or CBS, I’ve missed it for awhile. We subscribed to Hulu Live this year (primarily to watch college hoops) and I was thrilled to realize I’d be able to watch the SAG Awards now too!

To be honest, I wasn’t in love with much on the red carpet this time. If I’d been writing this a year ago, I’d have had 20+ people to include here; this year, I can’t go higher than 10.

Without further ado, here are my favorites from last night’s SAG Awards.

Susan Kelechi Watson

It’s a little hard to discern if I truly do love everything Susan Kelechi Watson wears, or if I just love her so much that I observe through rose-colored glasses. I think she is stunningly beautiful and massively talented. Also, she wears the heck out of this dress and I love it. I don’t even really like the color yellow but this is perfect.

Sterling K. Brown

It’s only appropriate to follow Susan Kelechi Watson with her on-screen husband, Sterling K. Brown. Same story here: do I really ALWAYS think he looks fantastic, or am I just so enamored of him that he can do no wrong in my eyes? No matter. He looks a smidge rumpled in this picture, but this is a great tux with just a hint of texture on the jacket.

Gemma Chan in Oscar de la Renta

I am usually not into dresses with high-low hems, but I don’t mind it so much here. I think the color is gorgeous and the detailing is impeccable. (Side note: when I first saw her in Crazy Rich Asians, her beauty literally made me gasp.)

Henry Golding in Tom Ford

Doesn’t he look SO happy? And SO dashing? Did you see Crazy Rich Asians? Henry Golding was so charming in it. I love a colorful jacket and this looks refined, not overdone.

Melissa McCarthy in Iorane

I thought her purple dress at the Golden Globes was so fun, but this is even better. A fitted sleeve would look better in my opinion, but otherwise this is perfect. I also love that she’s wearing sandals. A number of actresses were wearing closed-toe shoes and while they were fine in some cases (see: Gemma Chan, above) an open-toe feels better to me for a formal event.

Yara Shahidi in Fendi Haute Couture

There’s kind of a lot going on here and in theory, my minimalism-loving heart shouldn’t be into it… but I am. Maybe it’s because the colors are muted. I think this is perfect for Yara. It’s young and fun without being juvenile at all.

Samira Wiley in Georges Chakras Haute Couture

A not-so-simple black dress. Interesting and classic.

Sunita Mani

Ohhh, this color is so good. The fit is great and the sweetheart neckline is so flattering.

Margot Robbie in Valentino

White and gold are beautiful together. Also, is her skin airbrushed or something? It looks like porcelain. Sometimes a wide V-neck isn’t flattering but this works.

John Krasinski and Emily Blunt in Michael Kors

I’m calling them the best-dressed couple. My thing for John Krasinski strikes again. I can’t quite tell what color his tux is; is it a deep green? Love it.

I’m not entirely sure what I think about Emily’s gown. I love the color but I’m just not super into the ruffles. There’s no denying that they are a lovely couple though.

That’s it!

I think the next awards show, the Grammys, are coming up in a couple of weeks.

Have a great week!
