My Two Cents

My Two Cents – March 26, 2018

Oh Monday, here we are again.

This weekend was pretty good overall. I started my weekend early on Friday with a half-day vacation so I could take a 4 hour Pilates reformer introductory class. I have been interested in reformer classes for awhile but was completely intimidated by the machine – with good reason! I am still sore and can’t wait to sign up for more classes!

We saw a bit of snow on Saturday but still managed to get out of the house for an hour or so before the roads got bad. I spent the rest of the day puttering around the house and playing with the kids. I can’t state strongly enough how much I love those two. I had some really good one-on-one time playing with each of them and it made the entire day a good one.

I’m not sure what was up with our family on Sunday, but we were all just a smidge “off.” We were all up early and went out for breakfast, which was great, but when we got home, we were all just in kind of rotten moods. Our son went right down for a nap, but my husband and I were both touchy and our daughter was bouncing off the walls. We ended the day feeling fine, but there were a few tense hours in there where it felt like we were all biting each other’s heads off for no reason.

My husband was super sweet and painted the office for me. It was originally kind of a yellow-gold color and I wanted it nice and neutral. My go-to is Churchill Hotel Ecru by Valspar. Our girl got in on the action too. She insisted on wearing her painting smock, smacked the roller against the walls a couple of times, and then was ready to call it a day! She was so excited to be a helper!

I’m happy to make progress on the room though. I’m still hung up on the Grandin Road desk but in all honesty, it’s too big for the space. I’m debating asking a friend with a woodworking business to design something custom but I’m still thinking on it.

While talking about “the room,” I also feel compelled to mention that my husband and I watched “The Room” last night. It’s the Tommy Wiseau movie – the one James Franco’s movie The Disaster Artist was about. I mean… I have no words to describe this thing. It is BY FAR the worst movie I’ve ever seen and I haven’t laughed that hard in ages. If you’ve seen it, what’s your favorite line? Mine is a toss-up between, “Hi doggie!” and “You’re tearing me apart, Lisa!”

Anyway, I digress.

This weekend I was excited to see my Instagram follower count rise a bit along with my views on this blog. It’s exciting to think anyone cares what I have to say! One thing that is dismaying is noticing the number of people on Instagram who will follow you and then unfollow you as soon as you follow them back. I guess it’s just how the game is played but I’m still new enough at this that it stings a smidge when I see that someone has unfollowed me.

This week should be pretty low-key. Our daughter’s dance class is canceled for spring break this week which frees up Wednesday night. I’m excited to have those extra couple of hours at home with all of us together. Maybe we can get outside… assuming Mother Nature doesn’t dump 4 more inches of snow on us!
