Thursday Things Vol. 14
I feel like this holiday season is flying by. I just realized that we have our first family Christmas party in nine days… so it’s probably about time to get some gifts together!
Related, is anyone else burned out on gift guides? I love reading them the first few days of the season but now I’ve seen so many links to Hydroflasks and Zella leggings that I want to scream. (Don’t get me wrong; I like both of those things. I’m just tired of reading about them.)
Anyway, here are five things I’m NOT tired of this week.
Song of the Week
It has to be a Christmas song, right? I love the classics as much as anyone, but have enjoyed skimming Spotify lists for new additions to my playlist. Fitz and the Tantrums have “Santa Stole My Lady” which is super fun, but “Celebrate Me Home” from the cast of Nashville gets me every time. The last minute of that song is perfect.
Read of the Week
Prepare yourself for some fun irony. I usually bookmark links that I want to come back to read later and the first one I clicked on was about procrastination. I even procrastinate reading about procrastination. I wish this wasn’t an activity I partake in, but I’m trying to be better. This article has some great insight.
Drink of the Week
If you have access to Platform Beer Co.’s brews, try Holiday Donut Cookie. Sam Adams’ Chocolate Bock will always be my Christmastime OG beer and Listermann’s Satisfied is the stuff dreams are made of, but HDC is darn good.
Project of the Week
I’ve decided to take a stab at bullet journaling. Not the beautiful version you see on Pinterest. This is a stripped-down, bare bones, lots of black ink and no fancy washi tape version. I am finding it helpful though to keep all of my thoughts organized in this way, but we’re also only four days in to the experiment so let’s just see how this goes.
Quote of the Week
I’ve been digging into stoicism a bit lately and the morning emails from Daily Stoic are great. This quote is from a few weeks ago, but it stuck with me.
“Let us prepare our minds as if we’d come to the very end of life. Let us postpone nothing. Let us balance life’s books each day. … The one who puts the finishing touches on their life each day is never short of time.” – Seneca
